LTP 4 Update from Steve Moody...and its not good news. BCP showing us what Democracy means!

As previously posted I recently wrote to Cllrs Hadley and K Salmon asking about how our recent petition was being considered by the Local transport Plan ( LTP4 ) Working Group after it was referred to them at the full BCP Council Meeting on 3rd June.
Having received a response from Cllr Hadley… I have just sent him this note. I hope it is self explanatory. Sadly, as we feared. It looks like the petition was not taken seriously by the BCP Council Administration and is safely buried.
“Cllr Hadley ,
Thank you for the response.
However, I note from it that you are do not confirm how our petition was “ referred” or if the document was circulated to working group members. On that basis we assume it was not.
You did confirm that our petition did not appear on the WG agenda as a specific item. Which is very disappointing and will be of concern to our 2000 group members. I do not think “ being in the minds” of WG members will quite cut it with them as an adequate response.
On that basis, sadly with the exception of the support from Councillor Dower, it appears that as we feared , the views of 3281 people expressed in the petition will be safely sidelined in pursuit of the usual Active Travel Policies and Priorities. We shall report that back to our members accordingly. They will no doubt feel let down even if they expected it.
I would though agree that anything that could be done to reduce the number of HGV’s from the A350 would be beneficial and improvements to the A31 are really desperately needed. We shall see if they ever materialise.”
