Steve Moody writes to follow up on BCP & Dorset Motorists Petition regarding LTP4 Transport Policy
RE: Our BCP and Dorset Motorists Group petition which was referrred by BCP Council to the LTP4 working group.
We have recently received a very helpful update from Cllr Michelle Dower ( Covered in a seperate post) on this process .
However, I have just sent this to Cllrs Andy Hadley and Kate Salmon. As AH is the chair of the WG and KS was the member who proposed the motion. I feel it is only right we recieve a response from them on the following. We are determined to hold them to account and not just be brushed off.
“Dear Cllr’s Hadley and Salmon,
I am contacting you on behalf of our 1900 group members in connection our recent change.org petition which BCP council voted to move to the LTP4 working group for consideration. Please see below.
“ RESOLVED that the petition be referred to the LTP4 working group, in accordance with article 13.22.9 of the constitution, for it to be considered by that body as a piece of evidence to be fed into the continued development of LTP4”
This week we have again received a very helpful and supportive update on the process from Cllr Michelle Dower which we very much appreciate.
However, our members regard the matter of how our petition was considered and debated during the process of developing the LTP4 plans as matter of public interest and that as such the working group have an obligation to explain in detail the following aspects.
1) How was our petition “referred” and how was our document circulated? ( written or verbally ) Was our petition formally included on any WG agenda?
2) If our petition was considered , what process did that involve? Was it on a one off or ongoing basis ? And how has it shaped any of the fundamental proposals that are going to be put forward for public consultation later this year?
It is very important that we can prove to our members and the 3281 people who signed the petition that it was taken seriously by the LTP4 WG and not just buried in the long grass.
I look forward to receiving clarification from you on the above points as your earliest connivence.
Thank you”
Steve Moody
